What is leadership coaching? 2023

Leadership is a Practice.

Function: Catalyze a clear & compelling vision - and STAND - that is shared by the group & is acted upon.

Style: Authenticity, decisiveness, focus, personal touch, hard/soft people skills, communication, ever forward.

Work: Identify the problems & challenges that stop you achieving the vision, get the right people in the room to figure out it out & learn the solution together. Be visible & active (proactive).

Challenge: Mobilizing people to confront and make progress on a difficult reality they would rather avoid.

Truth: "The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you."

The new reality of leadership.

Leadership is collective, it is about stepping up to what needs doing.

Leadership only happens when there are leaders, followers & a shared endeavor.

Leadership is always relational, it is enacted & embodied. Leadership development happens in engagement.

The new reality of coaching.

Coaching is a partnership, a partner to meet your biggest leadership challenges with, a partner to ask and challenge" what are you uniquely positioned to do that the future world needs?" What is your STAND? Who do you need to BE? What do you KNOW? How will you ACT Coaching is work, your work - profound work.

Coaching and leadership exist at the learning edge, where coach and leader are OK not having the answers, and both recognize the world is requiring an answer - that all your stakeholders matter. As partners, we will figure this out together.
